Who Grainne is
Grainne Hurst has been Chief Executive of the Betting and Gaming Council, the UK trade body for betting and gaming operators, since September 2024, the first woman to hold the role. She is the industry's principal public voice on the Gambling White Paper, gambling taxation, advertising and the illegal market, and gave evidence to the House of Commons Treasury Select Committee in October 2025.
Before the BGC she spent almost a decade in corporate and regulatory affairs at Ladbrokes, GVC and Entain, latterly as Group Corporate Affairs Director, where she built the Changing for the Bettor safer gambling strategy and sat on the board of the Entain Foundation. She began her career in Westminster, including as a special adviser at the Department for Work and Pensions. She is a board member of Global Gaming Women.
