My daughter had been talking to me for 5 minutes at the breakfast table. I had no idea what she'd said.
That was 10 days into a spiral I hadn't even noticed I was in.
Laptop home from the office. Phone at dinner. Lying awake with my head racing. Sitting at the table as a family, but somewhere else entirely.
The more I worked, the less I produced.

The look in her eyes when she realised I hadn't heard a word. That was the slap. So I talked it through with my wife.
Kids go to bed at 8. We go to bed at 9. Up at 5. Two hours of deep work before they even get up. Sunday I work 5 to 11.
16 extra hours a week. The school run stays. The gym stays. The phone stays away from the breakfast table.
